This checklist gives Kentucky service businesses a clear path to rank better in local search and Maps. Follow these steps to get your Google Business Profile, on-page SEO, and local landing pages in shape.
1) Google Business Profile (GBP)
Pick the right primary category (e.g., “Website designer” or your core service).
Add services and descriptions; upload 8–10 photos (logo, team, work samples).
Keep NAP consistent: Name, Address, Phone exactly as on your site.
Add business hours, website URL, and appointment URL (contact page).
Post twice a month (offers, updates, launches).
Ask for reviews from happy clients; respond to every review.
2) On-page essentials
Title tags: include service + “Kentucky” or your city (e.g., “Web Design in Lexington, KY”).
Meta descriptions: clear offer + location + CTA.
One H1; logical H2/H3 hierarchy; avoid keyword stuffing.
Internal links: Home → Services → Contact; hub → city pages.
NAP on contact/footer; link to your Google Maps listing.
Schema: LocalBusiness + FAQPage where applicable.
3) Local landing pages
Create city/service pages with unique intros, FAQs, and CTAs.
Mention local cues: service areas, industries, timelines, proof.
Cross-link: hub → city pages; city pages → hub and services.
Use self-referencing canonicals; unique meta for each page.
4) Content and proof
Add 2–3 testimonials or mini case snippets.
Use FAQs to address pricing, timelines, and local availability.
Publish periodic local blog posts (like this) to capture long-tail queries.
5) Technical basics
Fast pages: compress images; set width/height; lazy-load non-critical media.
Mobile-friendly: spacing, tap targets, readable text.
Sitemap: include all key pages; reference it in robots.txt; submit to Search Console.
6) Track and iterate
GA4: track form submissions, chat clicks, call link clicks.
Search Console: submit sitemap; monitor coverage and queries.
Adjust titles/FAQs based on queries that get impressions but low clicks.
